Mike Pence at AIM Summit Dubai: America’s Global Role, China and the Future of Alliances

Few perspectives could be more timely as we consider America’s role in a changing world.

I greatly look forward to moderating a private, invitation-only roundtable discussion at the upcoming AIM Summit in Dubai with Mike Pence, former Vice President of the United States.

Having served as a congressman, Governor of Indiana and Vice President during President Trump’s first term, he has been closely involved in decisions at the highest level of government and worked directly with many of the leaders who are shaping the current international landscape. He will bring an exceptional breadth of experience to our discussion and offer insights into many of today’s most challenging issues.

Our conversation will explore America’s global responsibilities, strategic competition with China, the future of international alliances and the Gulf’s evolving economic and diplomatic influence. We will also consider how trade policy, fiscal pressures and artificial intelligence are reshaping the choices facing governments and investors.

For me, a particularly fascinating aspect will be the opportunity to explore how competing advice, political pressures and personal relationships shape decisions at the most senior level. How are consequential decisions made when the information is incomplete? How do leaders reconcile immediate political pressures with responsibilities extending far beyond their time in office? These questions have considerable relevance for those of us allocating capital, advising institutions and leading businesses across international markets.

This promises to be a compelling discussion with somebody who has experienced the exercise of American power from the inside at the highest level. I look forward enormously to exploring his perspectives and learning from his extensive experience.
